This Year's Mobility Projects
Erasmus+ E.L.E.V.A.T.E. Project
Student Mobility to Santa Dorotea Scuola Media 1 Grado, Arcore
April, 2026: Seventeen Year 9 students from St. Dorothy’s Senior School recently travelled to Arcore as part of an Erasmus+ project, where we had the opportunity to experience Italian culture firsthand. During our stay, we attended lessons at Santa Dorotea Scuola Media I Grado, where we made new friends and took part in everyday school activities, including having lunch together at the school canteen, known as the mensa.
As part of the mobility experience, we also visited several Italian cities, including Milan, Lecco, Bergamo, and Monza. During these visits, we explored famous duomos, museums, and lively streets, gaining a deeper appreciation of Italy’s rich history and culture.
Throughout the Erasmus+ project, we remained mindful of sustainability. We walked to many places daily and made use of public transport such as trains and the metro in order to reduce pollution. We also used reusable water bottles to minimise plastic waste. As a token of appreciation and remembrance, we presented the Italian students with reusable cloth gym bags to commemorate this special experience.
In preparation for the mobility, we spent five weeks developing our digital literacy skills and meeting regularly during break time with the accompanying teachers, Ms Laura and Ms Jessica. Together, we planned and prepared intercultural workshops and activities that later took place during the exchange. We also delivered a presentation about Malta, its culture, and the Dorothean schools in Malta, which allowed us to proudly share our traditions and school life with our Italian hosts.
During our stay, we noticed several differences between the Italian school system and our own. Italian students shared lunch together in the canteen, had a longer school day on Tuesdays, and studied subjects such as music and Italian history. These differences made the experience even more interesting and educational.
This journey helped us create unforgettable memories and strong friendships with the Italian students. Despite language differences, we connected through lessons, activities, and excursions, making the experience both meaningful and enjoyable.
Overall, the visit to Arcore was a valuable and enriching experience that we will always remember.

European Parliament Ambassador School
Visit to Rome
October, 2025: Four Junior European Ambassadors: Daniella Amore, Elisa Agius, Valentina Aquilina, and Ilaria Calleja from year 10 were given the opportunity to go to EPAS together Rome with other Ambassador schools. We were joined by 7 other schools from Malta, and around 120 students and teachers from Cyprus, Sicily, and Italy.
The three-day experience started off by playing the role-play of a member of the European Parliament. In the evening, we had an EU flag ceremony in the Piazza Campidoglio where there was Roberto Gualtieri who is the Mayor of Rome and Mario Sammut who is the Head of EPLO Malta. We also got the opportunity to go in the room where the treaty of Rome was signed. Finally, we finished the day with the city tour by bus, viewing several landmarks such as the Colosseum.
On the second day we went to Europa Experience where we were divided into groups and had various activities such as the Thermometer which is a scale on how fairly the government treated the population when taking certain decisions. There was an activity on disinformation which is deciding what is real and fake on social media. We went to Spazio Europa where we met with Elania Zito who is an Italian content creator. Then the day ended with a city escape around Rome.
On the last day we had the final activity which was an escape room which tested us how much we know about Europe and fake news. The certificates were given at Spazio Europa and then we had free time where we walked around Rome,
This experience was memorable, educational and it united different European schools together as we made a lot of friends. If any other Junior European Ambassadors have this opportunity, we recommend that they take it.

Past Projects
We arrived at Zurich Airport on February 4th. The next day, we visited Colmar, a lovely village found near Strasbourg, took a train tour, and learnt about the interesting history of chocolate whilst also tasting some delicious chocolate ourselves at the Choco-Story experience. On February 6th, we stayed in Strasbourg, enjoying a nice walking tour and a relaxing boat tour and learning about the city’s fascinating history along the way.

The Euroscola we participated in, took place on Friday 7th February. We proceeded to the Hemicycle and found our seats there. At the start of the parliamentary session, we listened to an introduction about the European Union and watched a video message from Roberta Metsola, the President of the European Parliament. Following this, we participated in an informative, interactive session with Nicolae ŞTEFĂNUȚĂ, Vice President of the European Parliament (The Greens/EFA, RO). After the interview, all students engaged in an interesting live debate on the topic of Poverty and Social exclusion with Danai Papadopoulou, the Secretariat of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs of the European Parliament.
During the second part of the Euroscola program, we took on the role of members of the European Parliament, where each group had the opportunity to debate different perspectives on poverty and social exclusion. Additionally, we participated in interactive workshops that allowed us to voice our opinions on important issues. We found the debates inspiring, as they pushed us to consider different perspectives and express our views confidently. The entire experience left us feeling more informed and motivated to engage with important social issues.
It was both an educational and fun experience that gave us valuable insights into the workings of the European Parliament.
Winners of EPAS Competition
European Parliament Ambassador School
In April 2024, our school participated in the European Parliament Ambassador School (EPAS) program through an engaging Year 9 initiative centered on the EPAS Quiz. This experience combined teamwork, preparation, and determination, culminating in unforgettable achievements. Citizenship lessons played a key role, where we explored topics through interactive methods like quizzes, presentations, and games, supported by individual study booklets.
On April 9, our school held the EU Quiz, with Year 9 students competing in teams of five. After several rounds of elimination, the winners were Kate Harmsworth, Riona Seguna, Joy Grech, Eliza Tanti, and Jamiee Cauchi. The second-place team included Ella Grech, Neena Camilleri Briffa, Abby Caruana, Faye Lautier, and Serena Saliba, while third place went to Jade Micallef Cassar, Eliza Borg Scerri, Francesca Forte, Louisa Fsadni, and Michela Caruana.
The top three teams advanced to the national finals held on May 9—Europe Day—at Europe House in Valletta, Malta. Competing against other schools, our team emerged victorious after a challenging finale. The day concluded with a celebration, where we learned that the grand prize was a trip to Strasbourg, France, in February 2025 to participate in Euroscola.
This incredible opportunity will allow us to act as Members of the European Parliament for a day, collaborating with peers from across Europe. None of this would have been possible without the dedication and support of our fellow students.

MOST Conference Amsterdam
Ekoskola Project Presentation
May, 2022: Ms. Daniela and Ms. Abigail had the pleasure of accompanying four of our students—Jade, Katrina, Francesca, and Celine—to the MOST Conference in Amsterdam. This significant event brought together schools from various countries, providing a unique platform for sharing and learning.
Our school was honoured with an invitation to present our Ekoskola projects, which focus on critical environmental issues such as reducing food waste, minimising plastic usage, and improving waste separation practices. This opportunity allowed our students to showcase their hard work and innovative solutions, engage with peers from around the world, and contribute to the global dialogue on sustainability. The experience was not only educational but also inspiring, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing environmental challenges.
